The narratives within our intense emotions can get shrouded behind jargon when we just take a scientific lens to feelings, so we've used relatable short stories to help you understand what's going on when we're feeling overwhelmed.

Whether it's anger, anxiety, sadness, or stress, we'll get to know the how and why behind our reactions, and strategies to find an alternative pathway toward feeling better.

Discover & identify the techniques that work for you.

Overwhelm looks different for everyone. Maybe yours looks like stress, anger, sadness, or anxiety. This portable, activity-oriented user guide allows you to turn to virtually any page to find a therapist-approved practice that targets overwhelm through time-tested psychological practices.

Easy to learn, to do, and to remember when you need it

SUCCESS STORIES

The Emotional Support Toolkit is your "break glass in case of (emotional) emergency" reference manual. As someone who's been in DBT and struggles with anxiety, I often forget to implement my skills while under distress. The Quick Start Guide is handy for when I'm feeling too overwhelmed to decide on techniques, but the rest of the EST is set up so I can easily find other techniques to try.

Michelle F.

It has an optimistic tone which straight away made me feel this is possible. Although the content is comprehensive and authoritative it is written in a way that is informative and engaging, and which drew me in with a desire to learn more. By breaking down different emotions and highlighting the potential tools that could help, it not only feels like a handbook I will keep coming back to, it also properly underlines that there is no one solution to managing emotions. So the build your own toolkit feels a very practical and realistic take away.

The diversity of interventions allows clients to pick and choose which skills work best for them. I also loved the artwork throughout the book. That was a new addition I noticed for this notebook, and I think it's a great touch. As a therapist, I can see myself utilizing the "Build Your Own Toolkit" section for myself and my clients. I love the idea of a personalized plan to address common triggers and stressors. The organization of that section allows clients to find strategies that work for specific environmental triggers.
